The mission of the Department of Public Facilities is to oversee the maintenance and sustainability of some of the largest and most visited City facilities, including City Hall, the Library, Union Station, Senior Center and DCU Center. The Department is responsible for timely and appropriate capital and maintenance projects, which help ensure the work environment for employees maximizes productivity and minimizes discomfort and downtime.

Community Day Events at Polar Park
The City of Worcester and Worcester Red Sox are committed to see Polar Park used as a hub for community-orientated events. The Polar Park Ballpark is available 10 days per year for community events such as City-sponsored high school baseball and other sports tournaments, Little League parades, district or Commonwealth championships, festivals or meetings.

Green Worcester
The City, through the Department of Sustainability & Resilience, has embarked on a multi-year, multi-million dollar energy efficiency and renewable energy project for municipal buildings. The goal is to modernize municipal facilities and reduce energy use, costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Union Station Accessibility Improvements
Worcester's Union Station is undergoing improvements to the platform, track and its accessibility to patrons. The upgrades will improve the station's function, capacity, level of service, safety and make it fully accessible.
