About Us
We are an interdepartmental team made up of members of the City Manager's Office, Department of Inspectional Services, Department of Public Works, Department of Parks, Recreation & Cemetery and Worcester Police Department.
The team was established in 2015 with three members. Under City Manager Eric Batista the team has expanded to include four nuisance inspectors from DPW, four Worcester Police Officers and two Inspectional Services members. We also work in collaboration with a growing Homeless Outreach Team run out of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Vision
To strengthen community partnerships, expand outreach efforts and implement innovative strategies to create neighborhoods that are not only safe, but welcoming and thriving.
Services
The Quality of Life Team handles a variety of issues, including:
- Business and Neighborhood Relationships
- Trash
- Illegal Dumping
- Vacant/Unsecure Properties
- Homelessness

Goals
- Refer unhoused individuals to services.
- Educate individuals that they can't illegally dump and alert them to the residential drop-off centers and the Yellow Trash Bag program.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, conduct outreach and adjust our strategies to effectively address new strategies.
- Follow a Neighborhoods First model, working with community stakeholders to advocate for a better quality of life through communication and collaboration in every neighborhood.
