All-Way STOP Control
All-Way Stop Control (AWSC) is a type of intersection traffic control where vehicles on every approach are required to stop at a STOP sign. AWSC is a cost-effective method to mitigate intersection conflicts and improve safety at intersections. AWSC is especially effective at reducing angle crashes between motor vehicles and improving interactions between vehicles and vulnerable road users such as pedestrians. Studies show that implementation of AWSC at eligible intersections can reduce crashes by 70% or more.
