Important: Employees and retirees are only allowed to make plan changes during open enrollment unless a qualifying life event has occurred. Open enrollment typically occurs in May for Active/Retiree (Non-Medicare) and Oct/Nov for Retiree (Medicare).

The EAP will guide you to solutions that make things less stressful and more manageable for you.

Family and Medical Leave Act (known as FMLA) provides up to 12 unpaid weeks of job-protected leave per year for employees in certain situations.

Employee Rights & Responsibilities

The City of Worcester Emergency Management Division utilizes resources from the Department of Homeland Security's Ready campaign. Ready is a national public service effort designed to educate and empower the American people to prepare for, respond to and mitigate emergencies, including natural and man-made disasters. The goal of the campaign is to promote preparedness through public involvement.

The Worcester Retirement Board (WRB) consists of five members: Ex-officio member (City Auditor), two elected members, a City Manager appointee and a fifth member appointed by the other four members.

The WRB's responsibility is to administer the Worcester Retirement System in accordance with the law for the benefit of its membership.

Membership in the Worcester Retirement System is mandatory for permanent employees of the City of Worcester (excluding teachers) and Worcester Housing Authority that regularly work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
