Youth Summer Programs

Recreation Worcester

Recreation Worcester is a free, out-of-school time program for youth run by the City of Worcester. Youth participate in curriculum based learning while focusing on our three main enrichment activities: athletics, arts, and academic programming. Youth also engage with community partners that help build programming and introduce participants to a number of positive, healthy, fun, educational activities.

Food will be provided to all youth that participate in the Recreation Worcester Program provided by the Worcester Public Schools.

Refunds

Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Refund

A refund check is issued to a taxpayer who has a credit balance on their bill, provided that they supply the City with the proper information and they have no other outstanding taxes due and payable to the City.

Municipal Lien

A Certificate of Municipal Lien (CML) tells how much tax is owed on a property. A City of Worcester CML may be ordered through our online payment partner or by submitting a CML Request Form to the Treasurer and Collector's Office. We will complete the certificate and return it to you within 10 business days of the receipt of your request.

Please fill out a separate form for each parcel (map/block/lot) requested. You must also include payment, in the correct amount, per certificate with your request.

Payments, Appeals & Refunds

Francisco Hernandez, Treasurer and Collector of Taxes

The Treasurer & Collector of Taxes Division is responsible for the timely billing and collection of all of the City's revenues as well as being the source of disbursing all of the payments by the City and the Worcester Retirement System. The Treasurer functions as the disbursing agent for the City, issuing paychecks, direct deposit vouchers and vendor checks annually.

Real Estate Tax

Under the laws of the Commonwealth, all cities and towns must be certified to assess properties at their "full and fair cash value." There are a few important terms to know when dealing with tax assessments.

The term "fiscal year" is the year for which the reassessment applies. Worcester's fiscal year begins July 1st and ends June 30th. Tax bills are issued quarterly on July 1, October 1, January 1 and April 1. The "tax date" or "assessment valuation date" is the January 1st preceding the fiscal year.
