In 1864, Thomas and Eliza Dodge moved to Worcester, where they became generous donors to many organizations. In 1881, he and Charles Washburn organized the Worcester Barbed Wire Fence Company. Thomas Dodge donated the 13 acres of land to establish Dodge Park in 1889. He was an inventor, in addition to studying law. Dodge died on February 12, 1910, leaving a rich legacy of philanthropy to the City of Worcester.

In 1897, a rustic stone bridge was built over what was Arthur Spring at the time, designed by Martin Green. 

Today, Dodge Park has a gazebo, a picnic area and nature trails to enjoy!

Elm Park Red and Black Bridge

Elm Park is one of Worcester's most beloved park and open space assets. It is a historic park that was established by a progressive City looking to preserve open space for the enjoyment of its citizens. It is split in two by Park Avenue. Numerous historic structures dot the landscape of Elm Park.
Shore Park Sandy Swimming Area with Lifeguard Tower

Located on Shore Drive, this park was renovated with a new bathhouse in the Spring of 2018. This park features a large beach on the north end of Indian Lake, as well as picnic areas. Beach-goers will find a new bathhouse, including restrooms, a first-aid room and a lifeguard room.
University (Crystal) Park Pond with Trees Around

University (Crystal) Park

District: 4

University Park is located in both a residential neighborhood and directly adjacent to a college campus. In the middle of the park is Crystal Pond, formerly used for swimming and ice skating. Today, activities on the Pond are limited to occasional paddle boating or toy boat races.
