DIGITAL CONTENT AND MARKETING COORDINATOR

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Digital Content & Marketing Coordinator for the Executive Office of the City Manager. Under the direction of the Director of Communications and Marketing, this position will lead the municipality’s storytelling through photography and videography while also taking on a key role in marketing, branding, and event production. In collaboration with the Communications Coordinator, this position will enhance the City of Worcester’s digital media brand by creating a photo and video strategy and completing editing, design, and branding review across departments. The Digital Content & Marketing Coordinator will play a support role in event coordination, graphic design, print production, and advertising and marketing strategy. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and professional, so a strong work ethic, ability to adapt to shifting priorities, and proactive approach are key. The individual in this role will be positioned to make significant impact on the City of Worcester through effective communications campaigns.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
- Lead the municipality’s photo and video strategy, collection, and editing to create engaging, high-quality content.
- Proactively identify, pitch, and execute digital and visual storytelling campaigns (e.g., The Buzz with City Manager Batista) to communicate municipal updates, priority messaging, and key service delivery information.
- Serve as the City Manager’s Office head photographer and build out the municipality’s photo and video library of both evergreen and timely content.
- Manage the municipal style guide, adapting and updating it as needed, and enforcing branding guidelines across the municipality.
- Design flyers, signs, logos, reports, social graphics, presentations, campaign materials, and other digital and printed collateral as needed. Review other departments’ content for clarity, layout, and readability.
- Advise departments on the best channel and form of digital communication for the most impactful information sharing.
- Provide guidance and support for event setup, layout, and stage direction.
- Create reusable templates, guides, and file libraries.
- Liaise with vendors regarding print projects, branded material, and advertising campaigns, and prepare content for final formatting for print preparation.
- Actively maintain shot list and digital campaign tracking
- Check graphical items for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Level AA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and experience working with photo, video, and graphic design technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva
- Knowledge of the Plan E or council-manager form of government
- Knowledge of marketing strategies and creative advertising channels with a limited budget
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a detailed, timely manner by proactively balancing workload and projects
- Ability to create engaging visual and digital content that aligns with strategic goals, voice, and brand
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging and communicate effectively for diverse audiences
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; flexible approach to working with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, including the ability to meet strict deadlines and work longer hours as necessary
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedure
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team that relies on information sharing
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours in order to meet deadlines and/or attend evening meetings and department-sponsored events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in video or film production, photography, visual communication, journalism, new media, fine arts, or related field, AND;
- Five (5) years of relevant experience (may include internships), OR;
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and three (3) years of relevant experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of above requirements
- One (1) year of experience in producing, creating, and editing videos, photos, and social media content
- Demonstrated range of experience and expertise in video and photo production and visual problem-solving
- Experience and confidence using current photo and video production equipment and software (e.g., Canva, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve)
- Experience with audio, video, photo editing, music selection and publishing software
- Proficient with computers, including Adobe and Microsoft Office Suites
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in video or film production, photography, visual communication, journalism, new media, fine arts, or related field
- Experience developing communications for diverse audiences
- Two (2) years of experience with audio, video, photo editing, music selection and publishing software
- Three (3) years of experience in producing, creating, and editing videos, photos, and social media content
SALARY RANGE: $69,898 - $91,542 annually, full-time, exempt with an excellent benefits package.
