Getting vaccinated before traveling abroad is important to protect yourself against diseases that are rare in the United States. The vaccines you will need to travel depend on the following:
- Where you are planning to travel. Some countries require proof of certain vaccines.
- Your own health. If you are pregnant or immunocompromised, you may need additional vaccines before traveling.
- The vaccinations you have already had.
No matter where you are traveling, it is important to get vaccinated 4-6 weeks before you travel. This is so your body has time to respond to the vaccine and start working, and so you have time to receive all necessary doses.
