I thought that this property was already in a historic district. What is different with this designation?

Many properties in proposed local historic districts are listed in the National Register of Historic Places or are inventoried with the Massachusetts Historical Commission. These designations offer only minimal protection and are honorary in nature. Some houses have no protection at all. By creating a local historic district, the historic character of the building(s) in a local historic district will be much better protected.

Neighborhood Response Team

The Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) is tasked with addressing the "quality of life" issues that exist in our neighborhoods, business districts, parks and other public places. Over time, quality of life issues can increase our fear of crime, which can be just as debilitating to an individual or neighborhood as actual violent crime. The NRT aims to reduce the fear of crime in the City of Worcester. This is accomplished by forming partnerships with the local community, business owners, city officials and government agencies.
