Neighborhood Response Team

The Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) is tasked with addressing the "quality of life" issues that exist in our neighborhoods, business districts, parks and other public places. Over time, quality of life issues can increase our fear of crime, which can be just as debilitating to an individual or neighborhood as actual violent crime. The NRT aims to reduce the fear of crime in the City of Worcester. This is accomplished by forming partnerships with the local community, business owners, city officials and government agencies. Working together we can provide long-term problem solving strategies to combat even the smallest quality of life issues.

One of the best places for residents to make their quality of life concerns known is at a local Neighborhood Meeting. These meetings are organized by local residents and community groups. They are held at numerous locations across the City of Worcester and are typically held on a monthly basis. Neighborhood meetings are open to any member of the community. Chances are your neighborhood is already represented by a Neighborhood Meeting. The Worcester Police Neighborhood Response Team assigns an officer to each Neighborhood Meeting. Our officers will listen to concerns and work together with residents on solutions. Crime concerns are only a small part of these Neighborhood Meetings. Most meetings are also attended by other representatives such as City Councilors, Health and Code employees and the City Manager's Quality of Life Task Force. Working together we are able to address a wide variety of neighborhood issues raised by the community.

These meetings are broken into two categories:

  • Neighborhood Meetings - Held in public locations throughout the City and may be attended by any member of the public.
  • WHA Community Meetings - Held in Worcester Housing Authority locations and attended by WHA staff and residents to discuss issues related to WHA properties, but all community members are welcome.
