WPD’s Gang Unit and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit Arrest Juvenile Male with Ghost Gun

On October 17th, 2024, detectives with the WPD’s Gang Unit were on patrol when they observed one vehicle cut off another vehicle and almost cause an accident at Major Taylor Boulevard and Green Street. Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on Harding Street with detectives from the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit.
They observed a male juvenile in the rear passenger seat appearing very nervous with his hand was covering his waistline. Detectives also observed some ammunition. The juvenile, the operator and a front passenger were told to exit the vehicle. As the juvenile got out, he reached for his waistline where a firearm was discovered. The Crime Scene Unit arrived on scene and processed the firearm, which was determined to be a 3D printed ghost gun.
The juvenile was arrested and is charged with Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Firearm Without A License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Possessing Ammunition Without an FID Card. The operator was cited for an unsafe lane change and stop sign violation and was free to leave with the front seat passenger.
