WPD’s Crime Gun Intelligence and Gang Units Arrest Juvenile on Firearm Charges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 4/10/2026 10:10 am

On April 7, 2026, members of the Worcester Police Department Crime Gun Unit and Gang Unit arrested a 17-year-old male on firearm-related charges. These charges stem from a joint investigation involving the Crime Gun Unit, the Gang Unit, the Worcester Police Department Detective Bureau and the Auburn Police Department.

On April 3, 2026, the Auburn Police Department was dispatched to an Auburn business. A store clerk reported that a male came into the store attempting to sell several electronics. After the sale, the male left, only to return a few minutes later. When the male returned, he was acting frantic inside the business, and he ran behind the counter to access the sold devices because he had left an item inside one of them. When the clerk assisted the male in retrieving the item, the clerk noticed the item to be a firearm. The male also removed a second item, which appeared to be a sock with heavy items inside. He then fled the store.

Auburn Police Detectives working with Worcester Police Detectives, were able to identify the juvenile male.

Members of the WPD’s Crime Gun Unit and Gang Unit set up surveillance of the male’s residence, and he was stopped shortly after leaving. Based on the facts known to investigators and statements made by the juvenile’s mother, Crime Gun Unit Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the male’s residence.

During the execution of the search warrant, a firearm and ammunition were located. The male was located on April 7, 2026, and placed under arrest without incident. Auburn Police Detectives continue to investigate what took place in their town and the male may face additional charges.
