WPD Vice Squad Executes Search Warrant, Recovers Large Amount of Fentanyl

On May 5th, 2025, members of the Worcester Police Vice Squad were in possession of two search warrants, one for a Richland St apartment and the other for a gold Toyota Avalon. The named target of both warrants was thirty-six-year-old Elvin Castillo. Vice Detectives and members of the DEA HIDTA task force established surveillance of the address and the Avalon which was parked out front. At approximately 9 AM, detectives observed Castillo exit his apartment and enter the Avalon. He drove away and was observed to pull over on Whipple Street, where detectives observed him engage in a suspected drug transaction with an individual who exited a residence on Whipple St. At this time, Vice Detectives and members of the DEA HIDTA task force approached Castillo’s vehicle and detained him.
Detectives and task force officers then returned to 76 Richland Street to execute the warrant. Once entry was made, a thorough search of the apartment was conducted. Detectives recovered approximately 425 grams of fentanyl in numerous baggies, digital scales, packaging materials, cutting agents, and $1,620 as a result of the search. Castillo was transported via patrol wagon to the station for booking. He is being charged with Trafficking a Class A Substance (Fentanyl) over 200 grams.
