On November 16th 2023, Worcester Police Vice Squad officers had a search warrant for a Plantation St hotel room. At about 9:45 AM, officers observed thirty-seven-year-old Angel Ortiz and eighteen-year-old Zakarra Ortiz leaving the hotel room. They were both detained while the warrant was executed.
Officers located a large amount of cocaine and a loaded handgun in the hotel room. As a result of the investigation, an additional search warrant was granted for a UHaul storage facility on Hammon St. As a result of this search, a second handgun and a shotgun were recovered.
Mr. Ortiz is charged with Trafficking in a Class B Substance over 200 Grams, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Improper Storage of a Firearm, three counts of Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card (2nd and subsequent), Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Armed Career Criminal Level 3. Zakarra Ortiz is charged with Trafficking in a Class B Substance over 200 Grams, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Improper Storage of a Firearm.
