WPD Officers Assist State Police Officers with Arresting Juvenile with Illegal Firearm

On Monday September 1, 2025, at approximately 3:30 AM, dispatch advised Worcester Police officers that Massachusetts State Police had four individuals run away from them towards Millbury Street. One of the individuals was in possession of a firearm tucked in their sweatshirt.
Officers quickly responded to the area. Four males were walking towards Winter Street in front of the Ice Center that matched the description given by the State Police.
As officers exited the cruiser, they observed a male rapidly put his hand into his sweatshirt pocket covering a large object and turn his body away from officers. He attempted to run away towards Pond Street. Officers were able to apprehend the male and safely remove the loaded firearm from his possession as he was placed in handcuffs. While standing with officers, the male advised officers that the firearm was loaded and that he was fifteen years old.
The serial number on the firearm was defaced making it unreadable. It was also loaded with eighteen rounds in the magazine with one in the chamber, and the firearm was clearly affixed with a Glock switch. The Crime Scene Unit safely collected the firearm.
The juvenile is charged with Carrying Firearm without License, Possess Ammunition without FID, Defaced Firearm Serial number, Possession of a Loaded Machine Gun
Loaded Firearm Carry without License and Firearm Possessing Large Capacity Feeding Device. The other three individuals were free to go.
