WPD Officers Arrest Man for Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 6/27/2024 1:47 pm

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at approximately 2:10 A.M. Worcester Police officers were patrolling the area of Main Street and Oread Place, an area known for drug dealing and use. Officers observed an individual, later identified as twenty-one-year-old Gabriel Rondon of Worcester, who had been standing on the corner for a long time. He appeared nervous once he spotted the marked police cruiser. Officers noticed Rondon was clutching a satchel that was strapped across his body.
Rondon got onto his bike and kept looking back at officers as he pedaled up a street without lights. Officers activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. Rondon pedaled quicker, eventually ditched the bicycle, and sprinted up Oread Place. Officers were able to stop him as he attempted to jump over a fence. Rondon was placed in handcuffs.
An officer observed him throw a baggie near the fence. A search of that area quickly turned up a larger bag containing five individually wrapped baggies with a powdery white powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl. Officers also found two cell phones and a used crack pipe inside of his satchel. Rondon is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Substance.
