FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 4/21/2025 9:56 am
On April 19th, 2025, at about 3:25 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the 711 Store at 1326 Main St for a report of an armed robbery in progress. Officers received information that someone entered the store, took items that he refused to pay for, showed the clerk a knife, and stole money. Officers saw surveillance footage of the incident and went to look for the male.
Shortly after they began to search, officers located a male on Main St who was identified as thirty-year-old Charles Yawn of William St. Officers noticed that Mr. Yawn appeared to be the male in the video, so they conducted a pat frisk. Mr. Yawn struck one of the officers in the face with his knee, and was taken to the ground and placed under arrest. Officers recovered a pair of scissors from Mr. Yawn. He was charged with Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and an outstanding arrest warrant.
