WPD Officers Arrest Male on Several Gun Charges

On March 27, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Worcester Police officers observed a driver fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Houghton and Grafton Streets. Officers pulled the operator over and noticed he kept reaching towards the passenger seat. Concerned for their safety, officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle.
Officers found a firearm that did not have a serial number under the driver’s seat. Further investigation showed that the driver does not have a license to carry. Fifty-year-old Jabiel Zayas was placed under arrest.
He has been charged with operating with a suspended license and failure to stop for a posted stop sign along with several gun charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of large capacity firearm and defacing a firearm serial number.
