WPD Officers Arrest Male on Drug Trafficking Charges After Foot Pursuit

At approximately 2:20 a.m. on June 24, 2026, a Worcester Police officer observed a vehicle speeding down Main Street. The officer turned his flashing lights on and attempted to pull the operator over. The driver accelerated at approximately 70 miles per hour before hitting a tree and crashing into a bridge at the bottom of a hill on Hammond Street. The driver ran from officers and tried to jump a fence before they caught up with him.
The operator was identified as forty-two-year-old Luis Saldana of Worcester. Officers found a baggie of suspected crack cocaine before he was taken to the hospital to be treated. Officers then located live ammunition on the driver’s side floorboard next to an open fanny pack. Fentanyl was found inside of it.
Mr. Saldana is charged with Possession of a Class B Substance, Trafficking Fentanyl (more than 10 grams), Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, along with several driving-related charges. He did not have a license to carry or an FID card. His driver’s license was also suspended.
