WPD Officers Arrest Male in Connection with Fatal Shooting on Southgate Street

On June 21, 2025, at approximately 7:40 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to multiple calls for shots fired on Southgate Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the male victim lying on the sidewalk and immediately began to render aid. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A short time later, WPD officers placed a suspect under arrest. 26-year-old Antonio Canales-Martinez is charged with Armed Assault to Murder, A&B With A Firearm, Aggravated A&B with Serious Bodily Injury and Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling.
The Crime Scene Unit safely processed the firearm. This incident is under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
