WPD Crime Gun Officers Arrest Man for Loaded Handgun

On March 16th, 2025, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit were on patrol in the area around Park and Pleasant St. At about 3 PM, they received a call for a large fight around the area of Elm Park. They received information that there might be a firearm involved.
After responding to the fight call, officers approached a male, later identified as twenty-two-year-old Derick Barjolo of Hudson St. Mr. Barjolo began sprinting toward Russell St. He was running with one of his arms in his jacket pocket, which made officers concerned that he had a firearm. Officers caught up to Mr. Barjolo on Townsend St and detained him. They located a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket, and Mr. Barjolo does not have a license to carry firearms.
Mr. Barjolo was placed under arrest and is charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.
