WPD Asks for Public’s Help to Identify Owner of Abused Dog
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 3/6/2025 12:07 pm
On March 3, 2025, a WPD Animal Control Officer was dispatched to Chandler Street for a report of a found dog. Upon arrival, she met with the caller who said he found the male pit bull near a liquor store at Chandler and Main Streets within the past week. He was trying to nurse it back to health, but the dog was severely emaciated and suffering from severe injuries to his face and legs. The officer had to carry the dog to her vehicle because he could not walk.
The dog was treated at an emergency veterinary hospital. He is now being cared for by Broken Tail Rescue, Inc. which has named him Phoenix. They are looking for donations for his care.
The Worcester Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to find the owner of this dog. If you have any information, please call Animal Control at 508-799-1211. Tips will be kept anonymous.
