Worcester Police Department Releases Crime Statistics for the First Half of 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 8/22/2025 8:56 am
Crime statistics from the first half of 2025 show a downward trend in many crimes in the city of Worcester. This is largely being driven by an uptick in patrol activity and 911 calls.
There have been two reported homicides in Worcester so far this year, five fewer than at this point in 2024. There have been eight non-fatal shooting incidents with nine victims in 2025, which is down from last year. Stabbings in the city are up 26% percent from a year ago, but they are still 11% below the five-year average. Robberies are down 25% and reported gunshots are down 28%.
“The men and women of the Worcester Police Department are out interacting with citizens each and every day,” said Chief Paul Saucier. “Patrol-initiated incidents are up about 54% since Covid, so our foot patrols are making a real difference in the community. As always, there is work to do, but rest assured that we are out there working to protect and serve our citizens.”
Below are statistics showing crime in the city of Worcester from January 1 to June 30 over the past five years.
