Woman Arrested After Stealing a Car and Striking a Police Vehicle

On March 17th, 2025, at approximately 4:25 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to a report of a stolen motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the caller stated that she left her vehicle running while she went to pick up her child. She returned to see someone driving off with it down Sterling Street.
Officers were able to identify the suspect as forty-three-year-old Omaira Torres of Worcester. Around 5:41PM, officers observed the vehicle on Millbury Street with Torres behind the wheel. Upon noticing police, she reversed the vehicle and crashed into a police car.
She drove down Millbury Street and then on Harding Street into oncoming traffic. She finally stopped at the intersection of Harding Street and Quinsigamond Avenue. Torres was placed under arrest. Her license was found to be suspended. The stolen vehicle was towed from the scene.
Torres is charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Failure to Stop for the Police, Use of a MV without Authority, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Endanger, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace and One Way Violation.
