WPD Officers Arrest Male with Ghost Gun

At approximately 8:09 p.m. on July 30, 2026, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to Winslow Park on Pleasant Street for a report of an assault. There was no fight when they arrived, but officers did notice a male laying down with an open container of alcohol and his personal items all around him. An officer checked an unzipped backpack for other alcohol contraband and found a loaded firearm and some illegal drugs, suspected to be fentanyl.
The Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to recover the firearm. It was determined to be a ghost gun, an untraceable handgun with no serial number. It was determined that the male, 48-year-old Robert McMahan, does not have a license to carry. He is charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possessing Ammunition without an FID Card, Carrying a Firearm Under the Influence of Liquor/Drugs, Receiving an Untraceable Firearm, along with drug and alcohol charges.
