WPD Summer Impact Officers Arrest Male on Illegal Gun Charges

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on July 22, 2026, officers assigned to Summer Impact observed a male slumped over the wheel of a vehicle on Church Street. Officers observed illegal drug paraphernalia in his lap.
Officers opened the driver’s side door and woke him up. He began to reach under his seat and was removed from the vehicle. Officers found a leather holster where he was reaching. The male, identified as fifty-eight-year-old Charles Harris of Worcester, was searched with a baggie of suspected fentanyl found on his person.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a gun inside of a backpack. Harris was placed in handcuffs. Further investigation showed Harris does not have a license to carry a firearm or FID card in Massachusetts. CSU arrived on scene to process the firearm.
Harris was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. He was charged with Possession of Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of Firearm without an FID Card, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Improper Storage of a Firearm and Possession of a Class A Drug
