Make Music Day Worcester Returns for a Free Citywide Celebration Sunday, June 21
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 6/18/2026 4:51 pm
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Arts Council invites residents and visitors to celebrate Make Music Day Worcester, a free all-day celebration of music taking place across the city on Sunday, June 21. Featuring more than 30 artists and performers at 10 locations throughout Worcester, the event transforms parks, plazas, businesses, and public spaces into stages for live music and community connection.
Part of the international Make Music Day movement celebrated in more than 1,000 cities worldwide, Make Music Day Worcester showcases the power of music to bring people together while highlighting the city's vibrant creative community. From solo musicians and bands to interactive performances and family-friendly activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
“What drew me to the heart of Make Music Day is getting to celebrate those who are already doing great things,” said Worcester Arts Council Chair Chris Michelotti. “The event doesn’t belong to one person or group, but to everyone. It has taken so many people to show up and get us here. On June 21st we will get to hear many different sounds and see all the faces representing the larger Worcester community.”
Crocodile River Music will kick things off at the Worcester Public Library at 10 a.m. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy performances spanning a variety of genres, discover local talent, and experience Worcester's neighborhoods through music. The celebration is designed to be accessible and welcoming, encouraging community members of all ages to participate, dance, and explore.
“Make Music Day Worcester demonstrates the power of the arts to activate our neighborhoods and strengthen community connections,” said Cultural Development Officer Fabian Barracks. “By bringing free performances into parks, plazas, business districts, and public spaces throughout Worcester, we're creating moments of joy where people live, work, and gather every day. We hope residents will travel from neighborhood to neighborhood, discovering new music, supporting local artists, and experiencing the city in a new way. When music fills our streets, it reminds us that culture is not confined to one place—it is woven into the fabric of every community and has the power to bring us together across backgrounds, generations, and experiences.”
This event is made possible through the kind support of Greater Worcester Community Foundation and the collaboration of local artists, cultural organizations, businesses, and community partners.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore multiple locations throughout the day and discover the diverse sounds, genres, and artistic talent.
