Worcester Police Department

At approximately 12:46 a.m. on May 20, 2026, Worcester Police officers observed a vehicle with an obstructed license plate on Madison Street. The vehicle was pulled over, and the driver began yelling about why he was being stopped. The operator and passengers were frisked for weapons, but none were found. 

Officers observed a large, black fanny pack in the backseat with a firearm inside. One of the passengers, twenty-two-year-old Robert Perkins of New Bedford, took ownership of the weapon, which did not have a serial number. Perkins was arrested and charged with Unlicensed Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm Without a License, Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card, and Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm. The driver was arrested on a warrant and for Driving an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
