FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 5/19/2026 12:20 pm
WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester Department of Public Works is expanding the number of days its bulk waste drop-off facility is open for the month of June.
For the month of June 2026, the bulk waste drop-off facility at the Residential Drop Off Center at 1065 Millbury St. will be open for two additional days, Thursdays and Fridays. The drop-off center allows residents to dispose of bulk waste items in a timely manner and at a low cost. There is also a yard waste drop-off area and a compost/winter sand pickup area.
With an appointment, residents may drop off bulk waste items for nominal fees during the following hours:
- Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Closed June 19 for Juneteenth)
- Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“I want to thank DPW Commissioner John Westerling and all of the DPW workers who are stepping up to make this pilot program work,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “We hope these extended hours at the drop off facility will incentivize folks to utilize the resource and deter illegal dumping. We’ve heard residents request more access, and we will evaluate the pilot program to potentially make the increased hours permanent.”
Residents can schedule an appointment online or by calling 311. Payment is accepted by check or exact cash only - no change is available on-site. Proof of residency is required. If using a property tax or water invoice, please ensure it pertains to the current year. Commercial vehicles are not permitted.
