WPD’s Crash Reconstruction Unit Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 5/11/2026 10:11 am

At approximately 9:16 p.m. on May 10, 2026, Worcester Police Communications received a call about a male who was hit by a vehicle near 137 Hope Avenue. Upon arrival, the male was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. He has been identified as sixty-two-year-old James McGuire of Worcester. 

A preliminary investigation shows the male was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by the vehicle. The Worcester Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating. There were no other injuries.
