Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution

The City of Worcester proudly joins communities across the Commonwealth and the nation in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

Worcester's citizens played a critical role throughout the Revolution, serving as organizers, militia members, and leaders who advanced the cause of liberty. The City later became the site of Massachusetts' first public reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 14, 1776.

Throughout 2026, Worcester will celebrate the anniversary through public programs, educational initiatives, cultural events, and artistic commemorations. These efforts will honor the City’s revolutionary past while engaging residents, students, artists, and historians in conversations about Worcester's ongoing role in shaping the future.

The City of Worcester is proud to take part in this historic commemoration and to explore the enduring legacy of a city that helped spark a revolution and continues to stand for democratic ideals 250 years later.
