Worcester Installs Grafton Hill Neighborhood Marker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 10/31/2025 4:25 pm

WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester announced Friday the installation of a new sign on Grafton Hill that serves as an identifying marker of the Grafton Hill neighborhood.

The installation of the sign was funded through CSX Community Investment Fund.

“This new marker is a great way to showcase pride in our Grafton Hill neighborhood,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “Residents and visitors alike will be greeted with a welcome to the historic Grafton Hill neighborhood as they make their way up Grafton Street. This marker is an example of our efforts to enhance our neighborhoods and public spaces and inspire civic pride, as guided by the Strategic Plan. Thank you to the Mayor and entire City Council for finding creative ways to utilize the CSX Community Investment Funds to beautify our city.”

The sign design was completed by Serrato Signs, the granite was provided by Empire Granite, and the sign was installed by Jam Corp.

“Grafton Hill has been a welcoming neighborhood in Worcester for generations, growing with the city over the years,” said District 3 City Councilor George Russell. “This sign will serve as a monument displaying Grafton Hill’s resilience for generations to come. Using a portion of the CSX Community Investment Fund to continue to welcome everyone to Grafton Hill is fitting. I want to thank my colleague, Councilor Candy Mero-Carlson, who borders our neighborhood, by lending her support on this project. Thank you to City Manager Batista and Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Commissioner Antonelli and his staff for installing the sign, welcoming all to the neighborhood. The quality of this monument shows the future commitment of the municipality to this neighborhood”
