WPD Crime Gun Intelligence Unit Arrests Male on Multiple Gun Charges

On October 7, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM, Detectives with the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit were on patrol of the Lincoln Street area when they came upon a male with warrants. While being placed into custody, a firearm was found on his person. CSU processed the gun and discovered the firearm did not have a serial number, making it untraceable. He also did not possess a license to carry.
Thirty-eight-year-old Matthew Gambrel was arrested and charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity weapon with a feeding device and the warrants.
