Worcester Drought Status Declaration Level-2 Significant Drought

WORCESTER, Mass. – Effective Sept. 9, 2025, the Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), Drought Management Task Force declared a Level-2 Significant Drought for the Central Region of Massachusetts. Based on the declaration by the Secretary of the EEA, the appropriate water use restrictions will be in effect as described below.
Level 2-Significant Drought Water Restrictions Applicable to All Water Users
- All nonessential outdoor water uses banned, except the watering of ornamentals and flower gardens with drip irrigation, hand-held hose, or watering cans may be permitted.
Level 2-Significant Drought Water Restrictions - Golf Course Operation
- Irrigation of fairways shall be reduced to 60% normal, and there shall be no irrigation of roughs, landscaping and ornamentals.
