WPD Officers Arrest Male for Illegally Carrying Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number

On September 8, 2025, at approximately 1:14PM, Worcester Police officers were on patrol on Main Street when they observed a male, later identified as Geordie Lara, reach into his fanny pack and hand something off to another male. Upon noticing the officers, Mr. Lara began walking at a high rate of speed while trying to conceal his fanny pack.
Officers stepped out of their cruiser on Shepard Street to talk with Lara when he took off running. He ran through the road disrupting travel for drivers. Officers quickly caught up with Mr. Lara. He was placed in handcuffs and told officers that he was carrying a weapon in his fanny pack. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered. Since Mr. Lara is 19 years old, he cannot possess a license to carry.
Mr. Lara was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, possession of ammunition without an FID card, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.
