Civilian Academy - Fall 2025
Event Details
September 10 - November 19, 2025
The Worcester Police Department's Citizens' Academy is a community outreach program designed to provide residents with a firsthand look at the department's operations.
This 11-week program aims to bridge the gap between the police and the public, promoting trust and collaboration while fostering stronger partnerships between the community and police members. The academy is not intended to train participants to become police officers; instead, it offers an inside view of the department's inner workings.
Throughout the program, participants will learn about various aspects of police work, including patrol procedures, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, and specialized units. Participants will also gain a deeper understanding of police procedures, the challenges faced by law enforcement, and their role in the community.
The course will feature presentations as well as interactive components. There will also be an opportunity for participants to schedule a ride-along with officers.
For any inquiries, please contact the Worcester Police Department's Training Division at 508-799-8641 or WPDAcademy@worcesterma.gov.
