Cooling Centers Open Tuesday, Water Available

WORCESTER, Mass. – Due to a forecasted high temperature Tuesday, July 8, the City of Worcester is activating cooling centers for residents.
Below is a schedule of hours and locations. Each facility will have supplies of water on hand for distribution.
Tuesday, July 8
- Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square | 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Worcester Senior Center – 128 Providence St. | 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Worcester 311 Customer Service Center – 799 Main St. | 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
All facilities are accessible via the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA), which continues to provide fare-free service. The WRTA also provides curb-to-curb ADA transportation. For information on bus routes, ADA transportation and travel training, please call the WRTA at 508-791-9782.
City officials remind residents that prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity impacts the body’s natural cooling systems and can lead to elevated body temperature and risk of illness.
