Building and Improving Upon Worcester's Public Schools

The City of Worcester is committed to improving public schools' infrastructure to help students with their goal of academic excellence. Securing a better future for Worcester means securing a better future for our students. To do that, we need to give them a solid foundation, starting with their school buildings.

Burncoat School Building Project

Burncoat High School will enter into a Feasibility Study with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) in May 2026 as an initial phase of a school building construction project that is anticipated to take 5 - 7 years to complete.

Burncoat High School, located at 179 Burncoat Street in Worcester, is a comprehensive public high school serving grades 9-12 with programming focused on performing and visual arts. It shares a campus with Burncoat Middle School, which serves grades 7 and 8. The MSBA will be working with the City of Worcester and Worcester Public Schools to determine if a potential new building will serve grades 7 through 12.
