The WPD is a Civil Service Department. You must score high enough on the Civil Service Exam to be considered. Exams for Worcester are every two years. Exams are scheduled by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Human Resources Division in Boston, 1-800-392-6178.
Interested candidates are required to apply online with the State Division of Human Resources (HRD). HRD does not accept paper applications anymore.
Preference is given to veterans and to City of Worcester residents.
