Worcester Redevelopment Authority announces Request for Proposals, Listening Session, for Grand Hall Operations and Restaurant Space at Union Station

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2/19/2026 2:04 pm

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Redevelopment Authority (WRA) announced Thursday its plans to advertise a Request for Proposals (RFP) to select a tenant for Grand Hall event operations and adjoining restaurant space at Union Station. The existing lease with Maxwell Luciano’s is set to expire on June 30, 2026.

The WRA expects to release and advertise the RFP in March. Prior to its release, the WRA is hosting a listening session on Wednesday, Feb. 25 to gather feedback and ideas from community members about the best use of the space moving forward to inform the RFP process. The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on the 2nd floor of Union Station in the Cannabis Control Commission conference room.

“This is an important opportunity for the WRA to maximize the use of the space and showcase this incredible community asset,” said Michael Angelini, WRA Chair. “We hope that the listening session on Feb. 25 will generate excitement and fresh perspectives.”

Originally built in 1911 and restored in 1998-2000, Union Station is considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the United States. In addition to serving as the inter-modal hub of New England’s second largest city, the Grand Hall has played host to banquets, weddings, and other events. Events hosted in the Grand Hall are served by the adjoining restaurant space.

“We greatly appreciate Maxwell Luciano’s tenancy and stewardship over the last 18 years,” said Peter Dunn, WRA Chief Executive Officer. “At the same time, with the existing lease expiring this year, it’s incumbent on the WRA to solicit proposals and select an operator that will be the best fit for Union Station moving forward.”
