Worcester Announces 2026 Trash and Recycling Calendar

WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester announced Friday the trash and recycling calendar for the 2026 year. Whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, that day’s collection and all remaining collections for the week will be delayed one day, as noted below.
The 2026 trash and recycling calendar includes 11 holidays that result in a day delay for collection:
- New Year’s Day – Jan. 1
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Jan. 19
- Presidents’ Day – Feb. 16
- Patriots’ Day – April 20
- Memorial Day – May 25
- Juneteenth – June 19
- Labor Day – Sept. 7
- Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day – Oct. 12
- Veterans Day – Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving Day – Nov. 26
- Christmas Day – Dec. 25
The only scheduled holiday that does not result in a day delay is Independence Day, July 4 (observed July 3).
Residents are advised to set recyclables and trash at the curb between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on their scheduled trash/recycling day.
