Scam Alert: Fake Calls About Your Electricity Supplier

WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester is aware that residents are receiving scam calls threatening that unless they switch their electricity supplier or pay a large sum of money, National Grid will shut off their electricity. This is not true.
Scam callers are specifically mentioning the Green Worcester ElectriCITY Aggregation program. Enrollment in the aggregation program does not affect your National Grid delivery service.
Signs it's a scam:
- Threats of immediate shutoff with no prior notice
- Demands for payment when your account is current
- Requests to pay by wire transfer, gift cards, or cryptocurrency
- Requests for your account number (National Grid already has it. Never share it.)
- Caller ID showing "National Grid" (can be faked)
