WORCESTER, Mass. – City Manager Eric D. Batista announced Monday the appointment of Nicholas Antanavica as Commissioner of Inspectional Services, effective May 12, 2025.

“Antanavica has a great deal of experience with permitting, and code enforcement and a proven track record of achieving municipal health, development, and sustainability goals,” said Batista. “I look forward to working with him and seeing the new ideas and leadership he brings to the Inspectional Services Department. He will play a key role in major initiatives including the next phase of our Rental Registry and rodent control program.”

Antanavica joins the City of Worcester with more than 20 years of experience in construction, permitting, and code enforcement roles. “I’m excited to join the City of Worcester and look forward to partnering with staff, residents, businesses, and developers to continue the great progress and improvements made over the past several years,” said Antanavica.

Antanavica served as the Building Commissioner/Zoning and ADA Enforcement Officer for the Town of Auburn from July 2012 to August 2015. He held the same position for the Town of Northborough from July 2014 to July 2015. He’s also held several construction and engineering management positions. He graduated from Drexel University with degrees in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering.
