Victim in April 9th Shooting Succumbed to His Injuries

UPDATE:

The male victim injured in the shooting that occurred on April 9th on Dorchester Street has died from his injuries. The victim is a 24-year-old Worcester resident. This is the city's first homicide of the year.

UPDATE: After an investigation, on April 9th 2023, Worcester Police officers placed Izaiha Quintal, twenty-years-old of Kenyon Ave, under arrest in connection with the Dorchester St shooting. Mr. Quintal was arrested at the hospital and is charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Possession of a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Misleading a Police Investigation.

WPD Detectives Investigate Dorchester St Shooting

On April 9th 2023 at about 1:23 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Dorchester St for a reported ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers located a white Infiniti parked near the intersection of Barclay and Dorchester St. Officers approached the vehicle and observed a male gunshot victim in the front seat. Officers turned off the vehicle and assisted the male until paramedics arrived and transported the male to the hospital. Detectives arrived and began the follow-up investigation.

The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
