SEASONAL MAINTENANCE CREW SUPERVISOR
(Park Steward Program)
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND PARKS
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester is seeking candidates for the Seasonal Maintenance Crew Supervisor position for the Department of Public Works & Parks Division. The position will participate in the maintenance task, supervise small maintenance crews, and coach seasonal staff in their daily work assignments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge operating small machine equipment (lawn mowers, trimmers, & leaf blowers)
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to perform green space maintenance
• Ability to assist in event operations and record keeping
• Ability to perform manual tasks requiring some physical exertion
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
• Ability to pass a physical and drug test
• Ability to successfully pass CORI/SORI check

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Minimum of a High School Degree or GED
• One (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity in outdoor maintenance
• Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance or landscaping
• Ability to organize multiple tasks
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Excellent communication skills and basic administrative abilities
• Ability to accept supervision and guidance
• Must have a Valid Driver’s License
• Willingness to perform manual labor & work in variety of weather conditions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate Degree or related field or Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance or landscaping in a supervisory capacity
• First-Aid and CPR/AED Certified

STARTING SALARY: $16.00 per hour, seasonal, non-benefitted
