ARPA FINANCIAL ANALYST
ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of ARPA Financial Analyst (Staff Assistant 3) to manage the processing and maintenance of federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) grant transactions. The Financial Analyst is responsible for recording of fund transactions, processing vendor and sub-recipient payments, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, documents and other data and performing other duties as required following established methods and procedures.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; will have demonstrated computer proficiency, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; and will have strong organization skills, with a focus on being detailed oriented. The qualified candidate will have knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping, grants administration, CFR 200 and other circulars governing federal and state grant funds; will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state, local and federal agencies; ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities for meeting internal and external deadlines; ability to respond to changes in priorities based on workflow and deadlines; and will be familiar with financial reports, documentation generation, and substantiation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above mentioned requirements.
  • Prior work experience with basic accounting/bookkeeping.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management
  • Prior work experience in municipal accounting / finance
  • Familiarity with grants administration.

SALARY: $28.59 - $34.85 hourly, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.
