PROGRAMMING LEAD
DIVISION OF YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES
CITY OF WORCESTER

PENDING FUNDING APPROVAL

The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of Programming Lead (Childcare) for our Worcester Cares for Kids babysitting program within the Youth Opportunities Division. This position is responsible for program development, staff management and training, family engagement, staff supervision and two babysitting program sessions per season. This position will work with the Division of Youth Opportunities and community partners to provide training and certifications for youth interested in becoming babysitters. The qualified candidate will have the ability to perform work with considerable independent judgment, creativity, and initiative. This position will be filled based on funding.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests
  • Ability to work with students with special education/emotional needs
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to build relationships and networking skills with participants, families, colleagues, and community members through video conferencing platforms

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in human services or other related field, OR;

 An equivalent combination of education, training and five (5) years of related work experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above-mentioned requirements.

  • One (1) year of administrative experience
  • Experience with staff supervision
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
  • Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two (2) years of experience with staff supervision
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Experience facilitating Out of School activities and Programming

SALARY: $18.00 hourly, seasonal, non-benefitted.
