Meet monthly on the 2nd Thursday evening. During grant review season, meetings will be held periodically until all grant applications have been reviewed. Grant applications typically open open the beginning of September through mid October. Applications are typically reviewed and voted on by the Council from November through December.
To promote the cultural affairs of the City of Worcester; to conduct studies, research and gather community input on arts and cultural granting priorities for the City; to cooperate with federal and state cultural agencies; to advise municipal agencies on cultural matters; to allocate funds received by the state for cultural projects, programs or activities in accordance with the law.
Active participation in meetings; review grant proposals; vote and allocate funds to approved grant applications; review grant reimbursement requests; keep track of the Worcester Arts Council budget; attend grant funded events; promote & market grant funded projects and events; plan and coordinate annual Worcester Arts Council initiated events.
An interest in arts & culture and community nonprofit programming; background in grant writing, event planning, marketing and finance; background as an artist in disciplines such as: visual arts, music or performing arts.
