WPD Officers Make Firearms Arrest After Shots Fired on Illinois St

For Immediate Release: 8/20/2022 11:33 am

On August 19th 2022 at about 10:42 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to Illinois St for a ShotSpotter activation. When they arrived on Illinois St, they observed vehicles drive away in a reckless and erratic manner. One vehicle, a black Jeep, drove around a cruiser and through the stop sign at Canterbury and Walpole St.

An officer activated his blue lights and attempted to pull over the Jeep. The Jeep did not pull over, and drove away at a high speed. The officer followed at a safe distance. The Jeep drove into a utility pole at the intersection of Hammond and Southbridge St, and its two occupants ran in opposite directions.

An officer ran after one of the occupants, who jumped the fence of Zam Zam Auto Sales on Southbridge St. The business was closed and had multiple “No Trespass” signs visible. Officers set up a perimeter around the business, and eventually located the individual, identified as Patrick Pierre, thirty-two-years-old of Dick St, with the help of a K9 unit. Officers found a loaded handgun in the Jeep, and Mr. Pierre does not have a license to carry firearms.

Mr. Pierre is charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawfully Carrying a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Trespass, and Armed Career Criminal Level 3. He will be arraigned in court.
