On December 19th 2023 at about 6:22 PM, Worcester Police officers were on patrol in the area of Fox St when they received a ShotSpotter activation for the area of Arlington St. Officers were aware that a warrant had recently been issued for twenty-six-year-old Hector Perez of Eastern Ave in connection with a previous incident in which shots had been fired.
While the officer was on the way to the ShotSpotter activation, he observed Mr. Perez driving a red Mercedes in the area. The officer activated his blue lights and initiated a motor vehicle stop on Fox St. The officer spoke with Mr. Perez, who opened the car door and began to run toward Pattison St. During the foot pursuit, the officer saw Mr. Perez reach toward his waistband. A second officer arrived and police were able to take Mr. Perez into custody.
A search of Mr. Perez and his vehicle revealed what bags of what appeared to be cocaine, a bag of what appeared to be fentanyl, a loaded handgun, and prescription medications. Mr. Perez does not have a license to carry firearms. He is charged with the warrant, Trafficking in a Class B Substance 18-36 Grams, Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.
